Beyond Waveform: Any mature applications built on Tracktion Engine?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring the Tracktion Engine framework (built on JUCE) and I’m already familiar with Waveform as the flagship example. However, I’d like to know if there are other mature applications based on Tracktion Engine that I could study as references.

More specifically, I’m interested in:

  1. Maturity & Stability

    • Are there applications that are already in practical use and considered stable?

    • Any long-term maintained community or independent projects?

  2. Open Source vs. Closed Source

    • Ideally, I’d love to see open-source projects where the architecture/implementation can be studied.

    • But non-open-source projects are also fine if they’re notable.

  3. Application Focus

    • Examples of apps focusing on MIDI sequencing, multitrack recording, mixing, FX processing, or other directions.

    • What are the core strengths or highlights of each?

  4. References & Resources

    • If no widely known mature projects exist, are there early-stage, experimental, or academic projects worth checking out?

    • GitHub / GitLab repositories, code snippets, or demos are all valuable.

It would be great if you could share:

  • Project name and link

  • Assessment of maturity (stability, community activity, update frequency)

  • Open-source status and license type

  • Notable features or architectural highlights

I’m looking for solid references that could guide me in building my own tool or application on top of Tracktion Engine. Any pointers are very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully there will be some people willing to share what they’ve built on top of Tracktion Engine.
Though I just wanted to add that for the Enterprise license, which are likely to be the biggest and most full features uses of the Engine, they don’t have to make the use of TE public so you might never know.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Dave! :folded_hands: That makes sense — I understand that many enterprise-level projects built with Tracktion Engine might not be public.

I’m still very eager to see if there are any other ways to learn from real-world examples. For instance:

  • In the open-source community, are there smaller but actively maintained projects or demos worth looking into?

  • Do you know of any academic or experimental projects (even if not “mature”) that could still be valuable as references?

  • Even partial codebases, older/archived repos, or modest indie/community projects that showcase interesting use of the Engine would already be very helpful.

I’m mainly hoping to study architecture and practical approaches, so if you know of any GitHub repos, demos, or links, that would be greatly appreciated!

And to anyone else reading this thread: if you’ve built something on top of Tracktion Engine (open-source or not), it would be amazing if you could share a bit about your project — even just an overview or highlights. I believe such references could really help more developers in the community get started and push things forward.

Thanks again!
