Hello everyone,
Thanks to D2D, fonts are now vertically hinted on Windows, but unfortunately, not horizontally. If you create a new folder named “llllllllllllllllllllll” in Explorer, you’ll notice that the ‘l’ characters align perfectly with the pixels. However, this isn’t the case when using JUCE with D2D and Segoe UI at the same font size, the text renders blurry, showing some moiré patterns.
We’re closer than ever to achieving native Segoe UI rendering on Windows! All that’s missing is horizontal hinting. Once that’s implemented, it will finally render as expected.
Has anyone else encountered or addressed this issue?
Matt, maybe you’ve looked into it? ![]()
[EDIT] Finally end up with using Segoe UI Variable as for modern win UI, seems looking ok even at low dpi ![]()
