I had the same problem. You may want to try out the version in the develop branch of VFLib (https://github.com/patr3ck/VFLib/tree/develop). I provided a fix for correct font sizes a few days ago. And Vinnie integrated that promptly into the develop branch.

It looks OK for me now, the bigger font is 12.5 Points:

Still doesn’t look good, although it’s different from previous version.
Just in case I’ve taken as well the latest version of FreeTypeAmalgamated

I’m using a custom made font, so it’s maybe the issue.
