Getting 5.1 Directsound to work in juce

Did any of you manage to gain acces to all the channels of a 5.1 sound card? I’m using the fabulous hercules dj-console, but despite all its glory I’m not able to get more than the standard stereo output pair (left&right) in my app. The jucedemo also exhibits this behaviour…

This could very well be related to the fact that I never ever worked with 5.1 sound at all… so maybe I forgot some settings at a very fundamental level (although I did switch the speaker-arrangement to 5.1 surround in windows control panel).

DSound isn’t cut out for multichannel cards, it only supports stereo devices, so you’d need to use more than one device at the same time to handle that kind of thing. Or use ASIO.
