I came across a cool Max for Live device called Volume Buddy that is somehow accessing the pre-effects audio signal on the track it’s loaded on, in order to level match the signal post-effects. How the F is it doing that? Is that some Ableton specific Max for Live magic, or is there a way to do that in a standard AU/VST3?
The new version of the Volume Buddy would appear to be using some Max4Live specific features. Looks like their old version required the use of the 2 plugin instances, as the first and last effect on the track processing chain, which you maybe could be able to do with VST/AU plugins too. (But it would be a hack and not 100% reliable.)
that’s what i figured thanks @Xenakios
