Nah. This kind of arbitrary gatekeeping doesn’t really hold up in any other topic in life. Pet owners don’t have a monopoly on the legality of dog fighting rings, nor car drivers on speeding regulations, [a massive et cetera]. Like anyone else, people who impose this type of requirement will invariably also have strong opinions on topics they’re not personally involved with.
I think I just explained this in my reply to Ben.
It isn’t that you can’t have strong opinions. We all do. And we’re all susceptible to drawing in things to support our biases in order to bolster our opinions. It’s just human.
It’s not that you can’t have an opinion, it’s whether that opinion holds any weight and is credible. As far as technology goes, if somebody is expressing an opinion about it to me - positive or negative - and they haven’t even tried it, then I’m going to treat their opinion with caution because they’re not talking from experience.
Anyhow, enough of this. It’s drifted off topic I reckon.
