Who we are:
We are a music technology company that builds industry-leading creative tools for musicians to help empower creators to make the best music and audio content possible. Our web app serves millions of users and we are in need of a principal lead web developer to help continue developing new products while maintaining our current app. Our main focus is primarily on building new products as our current app is in a very stable position. In addition to our web app we also use JUCE to build soft synths and other internal tools (it isn’t a requirement to be an expert in JUCE but is a major plus to be familiar as we hope to use JUCE to build audio tools in collaboration with web assembly to build some really amazing tools inside the browser).
As the Principal Engineer, you are a systems architect, coder, and liaison to different groups such as stakeholders, project managers, developers, data scientists, designers, and marketing teams.
Your highest priority will be discussing upcoming projects with stakeholders and then putting together detailed documentation and instructions using the best practices for a team of developers to implement. You will additionally work with a project manager to help define milestones for each project.
You will architect, configure and deploy cloud infrastructure consisting of identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, billing, and more.
Tasks and Deliverables:
Design, build and execute innovative and scalable technical solutions
Collaborate with internal/external technical and developer teams to drive communication, prioritization, analysis, and prompt resolution of customer challenges. Co-define priorities in order to establish a compelling multi-year roadmap, plotting the path from prototype to production for promising features.
Identify and lead projects proactively through the complete life-cycle including scoping, planning, executing, implementing/rollout, and closing.
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding.
Be a trusted technical advisor and solve cloud technical challenges, with a focus on Cloud networking design.
Create and deliver best networking practices recommendations, tutorials, sample code, and technical presentations adapting to different teams.
Perform current state assessment, design future state architecture, complete gap analysis, and create a complete vision for our engineering teams.
Lead 3rd-party system implementation projects (requirements documentation, systems configuration, data pipelines, integrations, issue identification, and resolution).
Manage project schedule for the workstream, identify possible issues, and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements.
Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and collaborative code reviews
3 years of experience managing and leading a team of developers. (Not required but a huge plus)
Ability to motivate teams by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose through a collaborative leadership approach. Effective communication, analytical, consulting, and project management skills.
Experience automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, CI/CD, and/or continuous integration/delivery, SQL/NoSQL/NewSQL, and cloud-based delivery models.
Expert with scalable networking technologies (e.g., Load Balancers, Firewalls) and web standards (e.g., REST APIs, web security mechanisms), standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate, key management, and system administration tasks.
Experience in troubleshooting, and supporting large-scale applications such as web services, data storage, databases, data pipelines, high-performance computing, commerce engines.
