I did some tests to check which hosts will happily replace plugin “Foo v1.vst3” by “Foo v2.vst3” in projects when “Foo v1.vst3” is not available.
- Cubase 14 obviously does it, with the automation properly remapped. It prompts the user before doing it.
- Komplete Kontrol works also (not sure for automation but I assume it does). Replacement done with no prompt.
- Live 12 : no replacement
- Bitwig Studio 5 : no replacement
- Studio One 7 : replacement, no prompt. It seems the automation is not remapped.
- Reaper 7 : replacement, no prompte. but automation is assigned to wrong parameters.
