We're hiring for an audio software developer at Krotos

Location: Edinburgh, UK or remote (GMT Overlap)

Immediate start. Salary based on experience.

This is a mid-level position that requires relevant industry experience.

Krotos designs and distributes audio software. Our mission is to change the way people design and perform sound. This position involves producing high quality, modern C++ code, working as part of a growing development team, and facilitating the efficient production of audio software.

Key Objectives

  • Work with the development team and product owner to develop the next generation of audio production tools
  • Build audio technologies that improve the way people work with sound
  • Bring experience and expertise in the audio software field
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously improve our development approach

Main Responsibilities

  • Write high quality C++ code
  • Work as part of a tight-knit team to deliver high quality code and scalable software products
  • Implement user interface designs
  • Support existing products and debug code
  • Take part in code reviews (as reviewer and reviewee)

Required Skills

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with C++ and cross-platform development using Microsoft Visual Studio, Apple Xcode
  • Have shipped at least one commercial audio product (ideally a VST/AU/AAX plugin)
  • 2 or more years experience in audio programming
  • Experience using the JUCE audio development framework
  • Experience using Git and source control
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work within a schedule and deliver effectively to deadlines
  • Knowledge of software testing practices, including automated testing
  • Experience with Agile software development practices
  • Interest in audio production and plugins

Desired Skills

  • Experience working in a scrum team developing new products
  • Knowledge of web technologies and REST APIs
  • Experience of CI/CD
  • Interest in digital signal processing and game audio
  • Experience with cross-platform SDKs
  • A desire to innovate and push current practice
  • Willingness to bring forward creative ideas and contribute towards the company vision
  • Knowledge of software architecture patterns and practices
