set/getCurrentProgramStateInformation still needed?

in the past I've always implemented VST2.x's getChunk/setChunk for both the complete state (preset bank), and for the current-program-only state (preset).

I now see that Cubase 5 and 7 never call set/getCurrentProgramStateInformation, and just call set/getStateInformation for the complete plugin state.

Are there any known issues/problems (perhaps in AU, RTAS or AAX) that occur if you don't implement the current-program-only versions?

And does that now imply that you cannot save a single preset any longer in Cubase?
