Is it an known issue that vst3 are blurred in ableton on retina screens on Windows?

Yes, VST3s are auto-scaled by default. To allow a plugin to render at the native display resolution, disable auto-scaling for that plugin.

Why does my plugin look better in Bitwig than in ableton Live?

Live doesn’t use hi-dpi mode for plugins by default. You can enable hi-dpi by right-clicking on the plugin in the plugin browser and deselecting “Auto-Scale Plugin Window”. You may need to remove and re-add the plugin in order for the change to take effect.

Has anyone found a way to make Live 11/12 load JUCE plugins with “Auto-Scale Plugin Window” disabled automatically on initial runs? It seems crazy that every user has to disable this by hand for a sharp display.

No, it’s an Ableton thing, not a JUCE thing. It is a shame that it doesn’t have this as the default option these days - maybe raise a suggestion to the abes?
