Drop shadow has abrupt edge

Has anyone else noticed that the drop shadow behind a standard window (i.e., the Juce Demo app) seems to have a rather hard edge, especially on the bottom? It’s easily noticeable especially when the window is over a light background.

Is there an easy way to remedy this? I just want it to fade more naturally. The drop shadow code is a bit hard to understand at first glance…

There is definitely a problem with the window drop shadow, at least on Windows:

Try cutting the blur radius in half, or even by 3 or 4.
