It would be cool, if a exporter in the tree, is displayed also with its folder name, because if you add more exporters of the same type, they are indistinguishable

in VS2012:
If you add a extra build configration (for example for x64 builds) , there are not activated in the current configuration.
in VS2012: right click on Solution -> Configuartion Properties -> Build Checkbox is unchecked
Yes, I've thought the same thing about naming - will do that at some point.
Don't understand your second question - in my multi-configuration projects there's only one item in that list and it's ticked, and everything seems to work ok. (And TBH I've never quite understood that configuration manager stuff or what it's supposed to do)
