Loading the live-build engine failed

Hello all, I am trying to get started using Juce and ran into an error.

I downloaded everything and tried compiling the app from projucer. It said “Download The Live Build Engine” to get started. Once it started installing, it gave me the message “Loading the live-build engine failed”.

I am using Windows 10 OS, and it does let me open in Visual Studio 2017, but it’s a bit frustrating that it won’t let me compile from projucer itself.

Is there something I’m missing that I need to do in order to download the live build engine?

Has anyone else run into this error?

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you!

The live build feature has been broken for some time. Just compile and debug your code using Visual Studio.

Note for the JUCE team: might be smart to remove that feature from the Projucer, at least by default, as so many people run into trouble with that one.
