Odd Pro Tools plugin behavior with multiple monitors (mac)

What steffen just said.
The fixes work fine for me in all my test envorinments.

Have you guys tested it with different monitor layouts? In particular, having different sized screens, with different vertical offsets from each other? And I also had problems depending on which screen the main PT window was inside.

Ok - I’ll do a bit more testing today, with different screen setups.

I tested it with monitors side by side and one above the other, as well as alternating the “main” display (the one with the Apple menu bar). It works for me but two checks are better than one.

something is still fishy. the exact same project that opened up fine two days ago failed to load properly today (using a different secondary screen, but the same alignment settings). As soon as the resizable corner was grabbed, the window positioning was corrected

But I wasn’t able to reproduce that behaviour since. Found something in our forum though on the “original” RTAS dualscreen issue: it was triggered by having the edit window on the secondary display:

Yeah, it makes a big difference which monitor the PT window is on - that’s what I fixed originally, and that’s why I said to be careful of the changes in this thread - they seem to be throwing away my fix!

I have tested it with different monitor layouts, the screens have different resolution/screensize, I tried left, right and top with different offsets and tried with Protools main window on the first and on the second monitor. No problems for me so far.

still, I’d prefer the comeback of that subtle back to the version in the current tip, where simply resizing a plugin on the secondary monitor (regardless of display alignment) will detach the plugineditor from the host’s plugin window.

confirmed here too: using the mainScreenHeight from the screen at index 0 worked for me too, with different resolution monitors and moving the pro-tools window both on the main screen and the secondary screen. +1 for the integration of this patch

Ok, thanks guys, I’ll bow to peer pressure and add the change!

Can anyone verify if this is fixed in Juce 2.0?

Thanks,

Sean Costello

Have you tried the latest rtas code since?

I’m still using 1.53 (or 1.54), for various reasons. I might use 2.0 for my upcoming plugin.
