Extended characters on Linux

#1

I got a bug report for a user running my program on Ubuntu 7.10. He says if he types ß, ö, ä, Ö, Ä or Ü then he just gets a square box. And he can’t type ü, nothing happens. Is this a known issue? Fixed in subversion? I’m still using 1.45.

Might be fixed in SVN, I’m sure I remember doing that…

Are you sure the selected font have the specified char ?
It’s most likely a “not found in current typeface” bug here.

About the fact that it can’t type ü, it’s probably because it comes from a glyph substitution (on my keyboard, you need to type ¨ and then u), and Juce doesn’t support glyph substitution yet.

In Hindi, Arabic, Persian, you have a lot of glyph substitution while typing making the input box almost useless for those languages.

I’m not sure, I’m just using the default font.
