Hello
I used almost all of the filter types in JUCE. All of them start shaking and then spiking at 384K sample rate and at 10 Hz cutoff frequency. I am using the plugin doctor to analyze the filter output. I tried the fab filter. Their filter doesn’t do such a thing. Their filter is limited at 10Hz but it works fine at all sample rates.
Do you have any suggestions for creating a stable one? Maybe I am doing something wrong while creating the filters. Do your filters start shaking and spiking at higher sample rates and at low frequencies?
thats overflow/underflow! you need doubles in the filter to cope with 384khz and such low frequencies
I think that you can switch your filters in JUCE to double
EDIT:
the standard IIRfilter class in juce allready uses double precision floats.
So maybe the limiting Fabfilter uses is uncircumventable for stable filtering at those low freqs?
The Juce IIRfitlers are biquads.
Is the instability related to the Q factor?
