Hello!
I’m planning to release my first plugin soon and was wondering how other indies sell their plugins.
I have a background in webdev so making custom website would not be a huge issue. However I’d gladly adopt something like woo commerce or shopify if it means I can put more time towards plugin development etc.
People who make their own websites, how are you handling payments?
Thank you!

These two will do the nightmarish EU VAT computation for an extra fee:
Accept payments online, anytime, anywhere. 2Checkout.com is an online payment processing service that helps you accept credit cards, PayPal, and debit cards.
FastSpring is a trusted global full-service SaaS ecommerce partner for software companies. With FastSpring, companies sell more, stay lean, and compete big.
Otherwise you can use a custom website and do that yourself by hooking up your site directly to:
PayPal is the faster, safer way to send money, make an online payment, receive money or set up a merchant account.
Online payment processing for internet businesses. Stripe is a suite of payment APIs that powers commerce for online businesses of all sizes, including fraud prevention, and subscription management. Use Stripe’s payment platform to accept and process...
If you are a EU company and have low revenues you might be able to opt out from VAT (I can’t offer any advice on that though).

The main problem is not how to sell, but how to protect against hacking of the program.
Thats a battle you cant win

That’s not worth your time IME, especially for a small developer.
If your product’s popular enough that lots of people are pirating it, you can afford to pay someone to implement some anti-piracy measures for you.
