Newbie trying to get started

Hi folks,

I'm really new to this so please forgive me if I'm asking dumb questions. I'm trying to open the Juce demo in MSVS 2013 and it reports that "
Project 'JuceDemo' could not be loaded because this edition of Visual C++ does not support classic style native application or managed projects."   Is there something I'm missing?

Sounds like the wrong version of VS! You need the one for "desktop" app development. Can't remember exactly what they call each one, but they now confusingly have two versions, and one of them is designed to only build Metro apps.
