OpenGL view issues in Android view

I’m working on an Android native app, pulling in a JUCE view onto an Android view. If I attach an OpenGLContext to the component, the view shows black until its redrawn either with a screen rotation or an overlay is drawn on top and then removed (the latter case shows the component with a squashed vertical dimension).

Note that the component has not been added to the desktop in this case, I wonder if that might affect it’s being redrawn. I’ve tried calling repaint/resized after attaching but they don’t seem to help.
