Audio Plugin Host Not Responding

I’m following the tutorial and when I try to scan for plugins via this step:

The JUCE plug-in host

Pressing “Cmd-P” (or going to Options > Edit the list of available plug-ins… ) will allow you to update the list of plug-ins on your system (you will only have to do this once per project). Click the options button at the bottom of the pop-up window and click Scan for new or updated VST plug-ins… . On macOS JUCE Audio plugins are automatically copied to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST , and the host application automatically searches that folder, so you shouldn’t need to manually specify where to look — just click Scan .

I just get the beach ball on MAC and have to eventually force quit the program. Any idea of why this is happening and how to avoid it?

Sounds like it’s scanning a plug-in which isn’t responding. The scanning dialog box should tell you which plug-in is to blame and then you can delete it or remove it from the paths that are being scanned.
