I'm building an AU for Mac OS, but do I need to also build an AUv3, if I have this scenario...?

I’m building an AU for Logic X users on Mac OS, but I don’t plan to aim at iOS (phone, tablet etc.).

Do I need to build a AUv3 as well, or is AU sufficient? Is AUv3 working more efficiently in Logic on more recent version of Mac OS? I’m a Windows guy, so this is new territory for me.

I built a VST3 no problem on the Mac.
Are there any gotchas I should look out for when building an AU / AUv3 ?

AUv3 on Mac is mostly useful if you want to sell your plug-in on the Mac App Store. Technically speaking I believe AU is deprecated but everyone still uses it on Mac, so you’re good with just AU and can safely ignore AUv3.

yes, I’m doing this auv3 thing right now… If you just do an auv3 target, you can push it in the appstore without having to do anything about packaging and such, straight from xcode.
