Status of MIDI 2.0 in JUCE 8 and ETA for Windows support etc

I notice there seems no mention of MIDI 2.0 support on the 8.0 preview branch blurb and release notes etc.

Also am I still right in thinking its going to be 8.1 where this support arrives fully?

Yes CI support is in there already but are things still pending on Microsoft to roll out 2.0 in Windows?
What’s the holdup?

I’m waiting aswell for MIDI 2.0 support. I think it’s because Microsoft, they should’ve had it finished by end 2023. Their roadmap says: second dev preview by October 2023, 1.0 by end of 2023. We are almost mid 2024 and still on dev preview 5.

Edit: dev preview 5 is from 7th March and in that release they say they are moving to production, so hopefully it should be ready “soon”?

Recent update about launch date:

Windows MIDI Services will be rolling out through Insider Builds over the next months, starting in November, to both Intel/AMD x64 and Arm64 PCs, with increasingly more consumer-ready releases. We’ll start with the more technical customers and development partners on our Discord Server and will expand as we find and fix issues. Then, once we and our customers and partners are satisfied with the compatibility and quality, we’ll switch it on by default, and roll it out broadly to retail Windows customers.
